Ban Tai
Ban Tai is a big bay to the west of Maenam. There are several beaches to choose from. The main beach is good for swimming, while neighboring beaches have corals and offer good snorkeling opportunities. Ban Tai is a quieter and more open area than Maenam or Bophut. There are few hotels in the region.
Along the main road you can find some Thai shops selling basic necessities. There are also some good local Thai restaurants mostly specializing in sea food at reasonable prices. Behind the main road there are hills that offer mountain biking opportunities as well as some great view points from which to see the neighboring island of Koh Phangan.
Ban Tai has a reputation for spas and wellness programs. There are a number of places where you can get various treatments including colonic irrigation, spa treatments, yoga lessons etc. The ethos of Ban Tai is more about healing and rejuvenation in contrast to the hedonism to be found at Chaweng and Lamai.
Ban Tai is about 20 minutes from Koh Samui airport and about 20 minutes from the main port town of Nathon. It is just 10 minutes away from the boutique atmosphere of Fisherman's Wharf (Bophut). This makes Ban Tai well connected to many of the main centers of the island.
